Chuck Noland, a time-obsessed systems engineer for FedEx, was the sole survivor of the 1995 FedEx Freight plane crash over the Pacific Ocean. Washed ashore on a deserted plot of land 600 miles south of the Cook Islands, Chuck remained stranded for over four years.

Cargo from the flight gradually washed ashore: a pair of ice skates, a frilled dress, videotapes, a packaged Wilson volleyball. After sustaining a deep hand wound attempting to light a fire, Chuck threw the volleyball, leaving a bloody imprint resembling a face. Later, in a reflective mood, Chuck fingered two eyes, a dot nose and a slightly upturned mouth into the blood. Wilson—with fun boy hair and an endearing bum chin—was born. Looking into Wilson’s bloodied, smirking face, Chuck heard him soundlessly whisper, it’s a free country—or at least it used to be.

Imagination is the loophole of world order. (There are no plots of land—nothing but ocean—600 miles south of the Cook Islands.) Imagination sees something round and, feeding on association, gives it a soul. Imagination rebuilds a man from the image of his own blood. Imagination drafts territories from nature and prints the map. Imagination takes a brand and builds a nation.

MARK WAHLBERG [V.O]

I've always thought beauty must be as isolating as genius. When people look at you they're so dazzled you must never know if they actually see you, the deep and complicated person you really are. I, I felt that about you instantly.

                                                            BROOKE SHIELDS

My mother warned me about boys like you.

[To camera]

Momma said he's only interested in my Calvin's.

 BROOKE SHIELDS

[Leafing through large dictionary]

I wonder if it’s a person? C...C...L. Verb. To undergo a miraculous transformation. From the Greek, Callas: Beautiful - that's the CAL. And from the Latin: [stumbles on pronunciation] Vincere? To conquer- that's the VIN. CAL-VIN. Beautiful conqueror. So that's what happened to me.

[To camera]

I've been Calvinized!

BROOKE SHIELDS

[To camera]

Reading is to the mind, are what Calvin's are to the body.

SCENE 4. INT. PHOTOGRAPHER'S STUDIO – DAY. 1981.

[Brooke Shields whistles as the camera pans over her Calvin Klein clad body.]

BROOKE SHIELDS

[To camera]

You wanna know what comes between me and my Calvin's?

Nothing.

SCENE 5. INT. PHOTOGRAPHER'S STUDIO – DAY. 1981.

[Brooke Shields lies on the floor with her feet above her head, reciting sums.]

BROOKE SHIELDS

Whenever I get some money I buy Calvin's.  And if there's any left, I pay the rent.

BROOKE SHIELDS

[To camera]

The kinds of people who buy Calvin's: those who want to remember, and those who want to forget.

“It’s Ralph,” announced Women's Wear Daily on the occasion of the 2017 American Presidential Inauguration. “For her inauguration look, Melania Trump turned to the most iconic name in American fashion. ‘With the historic swearing-in of her husband, Donald J. Trump, as the 45th President of the United States, the first lady-elect will become America’s new First Lady wearing an American designer who transformed American fashion, Ralph Lauren,’ her spokeswoman said.

"The Ralph Lauren Corp. issued the following statement Friday: ‘The Presidential Inauguration is a time for the United States to look our best to the world. It was important to us to uphold and celebrate the tradition of creating iconic American style for this moment.’ Hillary Clinton also turned up Friday wearing a Ralph Lauren Collection pantsuit, as she had done for presidential debates, Election Day and her post-race concession speech. Trump’s former opponent wore a jewel-necked suit and a double-faced cashmere cream-colored coat.”
